It has been awhile since I have posted on my blog.  I have also started another blog that seems a little more user friendly over at “blogger”, but maybe I will take the time to learn more about this blog set up and become a more efficient blog poster!!  Our family enjoyed a great Christmas at home!  We had family visit and enjoyed 2 great nephews being with us too.  Little kids are sure the joy of Christmas!  Fall of 2010 saw the BnB busy with a couple of scrapbooking week ends.  The ladies that came enjoyed getting lots of projects done, it was fun to check in on their progress and get new ideas from them.  One of the ladies had a “cuddlebug”…so that is the latest gadget to be in my scrapbook room too.  Great for embossing and making cards more textured and interesting.  Would love to hear back from any scrapbookers as to what your favorite item  or gadget is to use.  Have a great day everyone and thanks for checking out That Country Place!

It is May 28th and there is snow in the forecast!   Yikes!  What is up with that!  We have been blessed with rain though and we are always thankful for that in this area!  The yard is looking so nice and green, but I am waiting to be able to get my flowerbeds done….maybe after this cold week end things will warm up.  I have tried to take a few pictures of some of the flowering maydays,  and also the brave little pansies that make their appearance no matter what the weather…..Happy Spring everyone!

Scrapbooking and making cards are one of my past times…since we have had some rainy days I got busy in my little space under the stairs.  I usually try to make an assortment of cards using the same paper theme.  Don’t forget any of you who enjoy scrapbooking to call and make a reservation at the BnB for a scrapbookers week end.  You bring your projects and I will take care of all the details for the week end of making sure you are fed well and a little pampered too.  Happy scrappin!!

April 2, 2010, saw my son Ben, myself, and othe students and parents from JC Charyk on our way to Frankfurt Germany.  We enjoyed a 10 day whirlwind trip of parts of Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland.  How I would have loved to check out some BnB’s in Europe, but that will have to wait for another trip.  I enjoyed the windy cobblestone paths of Venice, the many windows, doorways, and gateways, the beauty of the Swiss Alps and the Austrian countryside.  I think   I will have to return one day!!!

IMG_1527IMG_1526IMG_1524IMG_1522IMG_1523IMG_1525My first scrapbooking retreat at That Country Place was a successful week end!  A group of 5 ladies from Didsbury area were my very gracious guests!  They arrived on Friday evening and quickly filled the breakfast room with all the stuff that only scrapbookers can haul!!  It was a lot of fun meeting other ladies with a passion for keeping family memories in a way that will be cherished by children and grandchildren!   I prepared the meals and they just worked away!  a perfect combination!  I enjoyed looking at their pages of creative ideas and getting to know them.   So, now that I have ironed out a few of the first time kinks,,,,,,book your retreat real soon, get away from your busy schedule, take time with friends or family and enjoy your hobby!

Thanks again to each of the ladies that came,,,, and I hope to see you in the spring time!

IMG_0748IMG_0734IMG_0743IMG_0744IMG_0732IMG_0741IMG_0745 Just a small spot under the stairwell downstairs is where you will find my scrapbook corner!  I had alot of fun organizing and putting together this cozy space just for creating!  The Dollar store, Ikea, and Walmart is where I purchased most of the items in this room.    Metal on the one wall of the staircase and an extra metal bulletin board idea is a great place for metal magnetic clips to hold lots of stamps and  baggies with project pieces in them.   The ribbon holders under the wall clock are just small magnetic curtain rods that I got at Walmart.   The desk Darrell made uses 2 file cabinets as the ends, which allows for great storage as well.  Clear containers from Walmart and Home Hardware give me lots of paper storage.

Of course these pictures were taken when I finished my room,,,so it is just a little messy now!!  But a great place to have so you can just leave your project and come back to it another day….and you don’t have a monster taking up the dining room table!    Happy scrapbooking everyone!   I’d love to see other peoples scrapbook creations, so please post them on the blog!

IMG_1309IMG_1311IMG_1331IMG_1355IMG_1362One of our favorite places to visit is Fernie.  Mountian biking, white water rafting, hiking, beaching it, and being with great friends are some of the reasons we enjoy going to Fernie.  We have stayed at a number of places over the past 4 years of going to Fernie and have finally found our great home away from home.  Birch Meadows Lodge BnB is a great place to stay!  Beautiful location, cozy, clean cabins, hot tub, great breakfasts and wonderful hosts will keep us going back to Birch Meadows!

Another great place Darrell and I visited this year was at Rocky Mountain House.  A must, must place to stay is The Prairie Creek Inn!  One of the best BnB’s we have ever been too.  Check it out online!

IMG_1470 IMG_1458IMG_1472IMG_1461IMG_1465We have hauled so many field rocks into our yard…big ones that required the front end loader, medium sized ones with interesting colors and marks, smaller ones for flowerbeds and borders.  So we only thought it would be best to finish our outside room by using more prairie rocks to frame the fireplace.  Great job Darrell!   This is one of our favorite spots in the yard.  It is shaded nicely and what could be better than a fire on a summer evening   :)

Lydia Broom plant looked very bright and sunny!

Lydia Broom plant looked very bright and sunny!

We had a great summer at the BnB, meeting people from England, Scotland, Victoria, Kelowna, Edmonton, Saskatoon, just to name a few.    It was a bit of a cooler summer at times, and we didn’t get any rain to speak of until Aug long week end!

I was pleased with how the flowers held on and I guess they liked the cooler weather too.  Darrell also got the outdoor fireplace in our “outside room” finished and he did a great job!  We love sitting outside, and the coziness of this corner of our yard is also a great place for our BnB guests to relax and have an evening fire.
